PAYMENT FAQs

  • Yes!

I reserve a significant portion of my caseload (about 50%) for sliding scale clients.

I understand that cost can be a real concern, and while I’m not able to offer sessions below my sliding scale baseline of $100 per 60-minute session, please know you’re not without options. If you need a lower fee, I’m more than happy to help connect you with low-cost or sliding scale services in the community that fit your budget. I’ve also included some reliable low-fee referral options in this FAQ to aid you in your search.

Who Is the Sliding Scale For?
This option is available on a needs-based system and is intended for those who would not be able to access therapy at the full fee.

The sliding scale is designed for individuals who regularly experience stress about meeting basic needs—such as housing, food, medical care, transportation, and childcare. I operate on an honor system and do not require proof of income.

If you have expendable income, I encourage you to pay the full fee. Doing so directly sustains my ability to offer lower-cost services to those who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford them.

If you're unsure whether using the sliding scale is an ethically appropriate choice for you, consider the following:

    • You are a good candidate for sliding scale if paying the full fee would cause significant stress and directly impact your ability to meet your essential needs.

    • You may be able to pay the full rate if doing so would simply require adjusting your budget—perhaps by cutting back temporarily on non-essentials like dining out, travel, or other discretionary spending.

I’m deeply grateful to clients who are able to pay the full rate, as their support makes it possible for me to continue offering care to those who are a strong fit for my practice but face financial limitations.

    Please Note:

The sliding scale applies only to clinical therapy sessions. It does not apply to SoulCollage® sessions, creative coaching, or other nonclinical offerings. These services are offered at a set fee, with package options available to support ongoing work.

My sliding scale is inspired by The Sliding Scale: A Tool of Economic Justice by Alexis J. Cunningfolk of Worts & Cunning Apothecary.

  • If my sliding scale spots are full, or if my base rate of $100 for a 60-minute session is outside your budget, I’m happy to offer referrals to other providers who offer reduced self-pay fees. I provide this as a service to the community to support transparency, access, and to help ease some of the frustration that often comes with finding affordable care.

    Recommendations:

Open Path Collective offers self-pay rates on a scale of $30-$70/session.

You can also adjust the search criteria on therapist directories like Psychology Today to reflect your financial needs.

Another option to consider is that many therapy practices offer sliding scale rates for sessions with intern or trainee counselors. I recommend exploring practices in your area that have a trainee program, as this can be a more affordable way to access quality care.

If you're in Tucson, I can personally recommend Tucson Counseling Associates, a group practice that operates under this model. Their sliding scale ranges from $25–$70 for a 50-minute individual session and $95 for a 50-minute couples or family session.

  • Yep! Just keep in mind you will still need another form of payment on file in the event of any late cancellation or no show fees, as these aren’t able to be billed through HSA/FSA accounts.

  • I do not accept insurance at this time, but will gladly provide superbill statements for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please know that you'll need to be in touch with your insurance company to understand how reimbursement is applied for out of network benefits.

  • I recommend using therapist directories and tweaking the criteria to reflect your needs. Some great places to begin your search are Psychology Today, Therapy Den, Neurodivergent Therapist Directory, and Inclusive Therapists.

Quality of Care

To provide the highest quality care, I prioritize ongoing professional development. This includes regular investment in continuing education, clinical trainings and intensives, weekly clinical supervision, and my own personal therapy. These practices help me stay grounded, attuned, and continually growing as a clinician.

I also believe in offering clients immersive, hands-on experiences in session. My office includes a range of tactile materials and creative resources that support experiential, somatic, and expressive work—allowing clients to engage in therapy in ways that feel meaningful, embodied, and accessible.

This commitment to lifelong learning, client engagement and choice, and sustainable practice directly supports the depth of care I’m able to offer. All of these investments are reflected in the rates I set for services.
